One of the things that drew me to my home in Baraboo was the mature trees. I fell in love with the towering grandmother silver maple in the backyard and the majestic basswood off the front porch. They hug the house. Up on the half story where my office is, I look out the windows and feel like I’m in a tree house.

When I first moved in fifteen years ago, I would lie awake during big thunderstorms in the middle of the night and cower in fear of a tree falling on my home.

Then I learned about the “holon of balance” from Tom Kenyon’s work. He suggests using an octahedron filled with divine white light as protection. During the summer storms with torrential rain and heavy winds, I would put an octahedron first around myself and each of the cats, and then larger nesting octahedrons around my bedroom, the whole house, and finally the whole yard. Rather miraculously, as soon as that was done, I would fall asleep with a deep sense of peace.

I recognized that this tool could be helpful in other situations and started putting an octahedron of white light around my car during busy traffic or unfavorable winter driving conditions. I also began using it for added protection before healing sessions with dark or heavy energy.

And then I realized that this octahedron could bring a sense of safety, comfort and healthy boundaries for empaths. It became step number four in “the Recipe” taught in the “Energy Essentials for Empaths” classes.

I now do a “holon of balance” around my house during every storm. I’ve long felt that if one of the trees in my yard fell or lost a big branch, the octahedron would deflect it and keep it from falling on my house.

Yesterday afternoon we had storms in Baraboo, and my theory was proven correct. A large branch fell harmlessly in my yard. Looking at the position of the tree and considering the direction the wind was blowing, it should have fallen on my dining room. It did not. It fell away from the house and didn’t do any damage.

This work is real, and it matters.
