When we’re developing a new skill, the energy of play combined with the energy of curiosity provides an atmosphere conducive to learning. Playing simple games with our intuition gives it a chance to stretch and grow without the heavy energy of performance or expectations.
Once our intuition starts developing, it knows we want to hear it, and so it continues by bringing us information of all sorts – not just the fun, playful information we began experimenting with, but all kinds. Including the inner wisdom that guides us toward peace and healing, including the more primal intuition that helps keep us safe in the world, including the ability to make healthy decisions informed by our higher wisdom.
Here are some simple, fun games to help develop your intuition:
· When the phone rings, pause for a moment and ask your intuition who is calling before answering or looking at caller ID.
· When you pull up to the drive-through lanes at the bank, check in with your intuition about which will be the fastest. This also works when waiting in line at the store or at a bank of elevators.
· Before making a trip to the other side of town or beginning your morning commute, consult your intuition about the best route to take to avoid heavy traffic, accidents or road closures.
· Allow your intuition to help you find a prime parking space at the mall or in the busy part of the city.
· Hand a magazine to a friend and ask them to concentrate on a picture or an ad. Tune in and describe to them what your intuition picks up.
· Select an animal or a bird that you would like to see more often in nature, then ask your intuition to guide you to it as often as possible in the next week or month.
· Shuffle a deck of cards, then pick one out of the deck. Before looking at it, tune in and get a sense of the color, the suit, the number. Or shuffle a deck of cards, then fan them out on a table with the backs showing. Choose a card to pick out such as the three of hearts and see how many tries it takes you find it.
· Before leaving home to run errands or go on a trip, ask your intuition if you’re forgetting anything.
· Choose a small object such as a thimble or a game token and ask a friend to hide it in the house. Use your intuition to guide you. Your friend can give clues by saying “warmer” or “cooler” as you move closer or further away from it.
· Make it a point to wonder about things. Say out loud, “I wonder if it’s going to rain today” or “I wonder what Fido is thinking” or “I wonder what would be a helpful book to read for this point on my spiritual journey.” Then listen for a response from your intuition (and from the Universe).
· When entering a store or a building, connect with your intuition and feel the energy of the space you’re walking into.
