Some of you have asked why my blog is named Tumbled Rocks.

During the creative process of looking for a name, I went out for a walk in the state park near my home. One of the more popular paths follows along the west shore of the lake. I’ve always been intrigued with the name. It’s called the Tumbled Rocks Trail because the macadam path weaves in and out among the large quartzite boulders along the shore.

I realized the image of Tumbled Rocks also has a deeper meaning.

On this journey called life, we occasionally stumble over a rock in our path. Sometimes it may be a tiny pebble in our shoe, other times it may be a large boulder that changes the course of our direction.

We work with these rocks and run them through the tumbler of our experience and our wisdom. In the end, they emerge smooth and polished, shiny and beautiful.

And through the process of tumbling the rocks we collect on our journey, we emerge stronger and wiser, more complete and in our power. A traditional shaman would say, “We make medicine out of our experience.”

So, Tumbled Rocks became its name, because that’s the purpose behind this blog – to share suggestions, activities, and ideas that help us make medicine out of the rocks on our path.

Comments are always welcome at the Tumbled Rocks blog. Please feel free to share an experience of your own, a helpful suggestion, or ask a question.

And if there are topics you’d like to see addressed, please suggest ideas for future postings.
