In doing healing work, shamanic practitioners are trained to work in partnership with our helping spirits who aid in identifying recurring patterns and healing energy blockages. Ancestral healing work is no different – but due to the nature of the work, ancestral healing can present additional challenges.
The ancestors notice when we turn our attention to their family. Some want to be helpful, some are resistant, and those who are suffering are eager for the healing. They begin to lean in. Their direct presence in the healing space can influence the session and make the healing more difficult if the practitioner doesn’t have strong boundaries. By working on the family energy system in the spirit realms, we can lessen the possibility that the heavy ancestral energy will affect us or the client during the session.
Each family has a unique Gathering Place of Ancestors in the Lower World. The family history is accessible there, and the unquiet ancestors can be held in a place of love and compassion while the healing work is done on their behalf.
From the Gathering Place, we can also meet the family’s benevolent spirit helpers, including the family totem, ancestor allies, and family elements. Even the heavier work of compassionate depossession, curse unraveling, and unraveling ancestral soul theft can happen more safely and effectively in the Gathering Place.
The Ancestral Healing Practitioner Program is intended for practitioners with a shamanic healing practice or a complementary practice. Energy workers, body workers, therapists, and other mental health professionals who are “shamanic friendly” are also welcome.
Please note: The Ancestral Healing Practitioner Program is not for personal healing. If you are looking for personal healing, please schedule a private ancestral healing session. You are also welcome to sign up for Year 1 of the Red Thread, a personal ancestral healing program which works directly with you and your family system.
This practitioner program meets in-person three times for classroom instruction at a retreat center near Dodgeville, WI. It is an intermediate to advanced level program.

- Part 2: December 13-15, 2024 • The Heavier Work – Curse Unraveling, Psychopomp and Compassionate Depossession
- Part 3: March 14-16, 2025 • Putting It All Together
Participants are expected to do five practice cases and write up two case studies after each class for a total of 15 practice cases and six written case studies.
There will be Zoom meetings after each in-person classes to present case studies and support further learning. The format and cost for the Zoom meetings will be determined at the first weekend by agreement of the group.
Each weekend begins at 10 am on the first day and runs through Sunday afternoon with closing circle at 4 pm. Saturday evening is typically used for ceremony.
