Psychopomp beings
As part of my shamanic healing practice of compassionate depossession, I rely on assistance from the helping spirits. Their loving energy holds the container of sacred space and calls the suffering being fully into the session for the release to be complete. The angels fill the room with light and compassion and shine love directly into the heart of the suffering being, reminding them of their divine nature and melting their resistance. Mother Mary lends her support for the suffering beings who want to go to the light of the Upper World....
Early childhood memories
Early childhood memories are interesting. They often point to something meaningful in our life. My first memory dates back to before age three. Mom, Dad and I were in the old red pick-up truck coming home from getting a dog. An older farm couple were moving into town and needed to rehome their outdoor dog. It was summer because in my memory, my mother was wearing a sleeveless dress, her belly rounded from pregnancy. My mom sat in the middle, and I was in the passenger seat. (This was back in the days before car seats for toddlers were used.)...
Reactivity
A friend and former vet tech posted this meme about reactive dogs. It resonated deeply with me. As I read the columns, it helped me understand the two different approaches. The column on the right is filled with judgment about the dog. The dog is bad, it’s the dog’s fault, punish the dog harshly. The column on the left is more compassionate and recognizes the dog is experiencing a stressor and how to help them feel safe. Humans (both adults and children) are also reactive when our nervous systems are overwhelmed, whether it be from fear,...
Summer flowers
I hadn’t been to Steinke Basin for a couple weeks, and this morning I had space in my schedule, so out I went to enjoy a hike in nature. Redwing blackbirds chittered at me to let me know I was encroaching on their territory. I was also serenaded by two catbirds. The coolest bird activity of the day was seeing a pair of Eastern towhees – a lifer for me. Unfortunately I was unable to get a good picture. Wildflowers were abundant today. For whatever reason, I had forgotten that bergamot (aka bee balm) would be out, so it was a delight to see the...
Sometimes apologies aren’t necessary
When I consciously began walking my spiritual path, one of the first pieces of personal healing to happen was around my need to apologize. A dear friend pointed out just how often I said “I’m sorry.” Once she mentioned this, it was in my awareness and I began to notice a pattern. To any small perceived wrongdoing, I would say “I’m sorry.” In the moment that I dropped the piece of paper, spilled on the counter, or didn’t understand something someone said, my go-to response was “I’m sorry.” My friend asked me two helpful questions - why was I...
Everybody’s an empath
Even for those who normally walk in the world with healthy energetic boundaries, the last several weeks have been especially challenging. One heartbreaking national and international news story after another have saturated our already full energy fields and sent many people straight into overwhelm. There are some simple suggestions from the “Energy Essentials for Empaths” class which will help in regaining a foothold: * Be in nature. Many compassionate nature spirits will help calm and soothe our troubled souls. Walking especially helps open...
