A client recently posed a great question. He asked whether it was better to stick with one healing modality or to try many different healing options to support him as he worked through an issue.
I am a shamanic healer who specializes in working with heavy energy – whether it’s spirit attachment, ancestral patterns, childhood trauma, or the discomfort of being sensitive to energy. My approach may not be the only one, or even necessarily the best one, for any given situation. Clients often benefit by working with additional practitioners at different times. My referral network includes counselors, acupuncturists, trauma specialists and bodyworkers of various sorts.
In my own personal healing journey, I most often choose to work with shamanic colleagues to address core wounds and energetic blockages. I also regularly see a counselor for processing and a chiropractor for physical health and alignment. On an as-needed basis, I also work with a massage therapist, a trauma therapist, and an acupuncturist.
It is helpful to approach long-standing issues from multiple angles and perspectives. But sometimes in our quest to heal, we can also take the exploration phase to extremes. The disadvantage in constantly seeking the next new experience is that we only ever have introductory sessions and never go deeper with our healing. This can be a form of distraction and bypassing.
I recommend picking the modality that you most resonate with and using that as the basis for your personal healing, then supplementing with several other specialties to fill out your care team. This allows for optimal growth by working closely with practitioners who know you and can hold space and guide you effectively over time.
There are lots of different ways to work with energy. Many roads lead to healing. When we’re ready to grow, the healing energy will take whatever path is available to reach us. Blessings on your healing journey!
This work is real, and it matters.
