For those of us who are clairsentient, our intuitive gifts may manifest as the ability to sense whatever is within our energy field. Imagine what this might be like on a busy city sidewalk or shopping mall. Everyone who passes nearby walks through our aura, and we pick up on their moods and energy, maybe even their thoughts. If we’re not solidly grounded into Mother Earth, this amount of sensory input might overwhelm us.

In a location where we feel safe and relaxed, such as at home or in a favorite place in nature, our energy field expands. When we’re unsure of ourselves, less safe or at ease, it tightens. We can utilize this natural tendency and be more comfortable in a crowd if we consciously shrink our aura, temporarily limiting the amount of intuition we receive.

Here’s how to practice this technique:

·      close your eyes

·      tune into your energy field

·      locate the edge of it by using your hands to feel the boundary – you may notice a spongy feeling or a bit of resistance as your hands pass through it

·      just by holding the intention, direct your energy field to pull in closer to your body

·      use your hands to feel where the edge of your energy field is now located

·      sense what your energy feels like with your luminous field pulled in tighter to the body – it may feel a little more dense, a little more protected

·      allow your energy field to take its normal size and shape when you’re done experimenting

This tool can help us hold our center the next time we start to get unsettled or loose our sense of self in a group of people.
