We create sacred space before doing ceremony, journeying, or giving intuitive readings to provide a container of love and compassion to work in. Knowing that we are held by Spirit frees us to be in our heart and helps us hear the quiet inner voice of intuition.

In creating sacred space, we set our intention for what is to come and ask for assistance from the helping spirits. Doing so minimizes outside distractions – both from the physical world and the spirit world. It defines the space we are working in and provides safety and protection. Our energy combines directly with Spirit energy, and our efforts flow more smoothly.

There are many ways to create sacred space. Some examples include:

·      smudging or burning incense

·      using sound, such as drumming or rattling or crystal bowls

·      singing, toning or chanting

·      using a crystal grid or stone array to raise the vibration of the room

·      holding the intention to work in sacred space

·      creating an altar

·      surrounding ourselves with a field of light and love

·      calling in the directions

·      dancing or using movement

·      meditating to raise the vibration of the room

·      praying

·      casting a circle

·      preparing ourselves by taking a cleansing bath in sea salts

Because there are so many ways of creating sacred space, we can experiment and come up with our own unique method that has special meaning for us and the healing spirits we work with.

Developing a personal ritual for creating sacred space helps focus our attention and results in a tangible energy shift. With repetition, we create a pathway to the divine that allows us to drop down into sacred space easily and effortlessly.
