Unraveling instinct injury and reclaiming lost power
This spring I recorded a 25-minute audio for the Society of Shamanic Practice on unraveling instinct injury and reclaiming lost power. The audience was a group of shamanic practitioners, but shamanic healing clients and shamanic students may find it helpful as well. The full description follows. This work is real, and it matters. * * * * * * * * * * * UNRAVELING INSTINCT INJURY AND RECLAIMING LOST POWER - by Debra Morrill There are some wounds that cut so deep that soul retrieval alone is not enough to heal. In many of these cases, the...
Pollinators
i enjoyed a lovely walk at Steinke Basin yesterday morning, only my second of the season. It was good to be there again and engage with the loving nature spirits. I was especially happy to be greeted by orange hawkweed along the meadow part of the trail. Hawkweed has happy energy so it boosted my mood after several gray, rainy days. Hawkweed comes in two varieties - orange and yellow. They have long hairy stems (no leaves) and typically grow in clumps. Although it is technically considered an invasive, I light up when I see it. There are many...
Family gifts
Although the focus in ancestral healing work is often on shifting the inherited burden and dysfunctional patterns, it’s also important to acknowledge the positive energies we receive through our lineage. Family gifts come in many forms - a sense of humor, athleticism, intelligence, a love of woodworking, the ability to be present with grief, an adventurous spirit, a musical ear, or a kind heart. These gifts can bring great joy and become part of our personal power. They also support us through difficult times. From my father, I got a strong...
Healthy energetic boundaries
With the sadness and suffering both here in the U.S. and abroad right now, healthy energetic boundaries are crucial to avoid being overwhelmed by the heavy energy. For empaths, it can be like walking around in the world with a raw nerve exposed. Not only do we feel our pain, we also feel the pain of those around us – and even the global pain. At times like this, having a regular practice of grounding, alignment, and protection is even more important than ever. Healthier energetic boundaries arise from being home in our body, being centered in...
Release valves
Our root chakra and grounding cord work together to keep us connected to Mother Earth. Through that bond, we can feel her solid, stable, secure, supportive energy. This aids us in being centered in ourselves, feeling safe, and having healthy boundaries. But that’s only half of what a grounding cord does. Our grounding cords also serve as release valves for excess or unwanted energy. When we take on heavy or negative energy, our grounding cord helps drain that away. It also supports us in releasing excess emotion (such as anger or grief),...
Spirit art
Last fall, one of my circles had a reunion at Crow Moon Healing. We had only ever met on Zoom because the class began and ended during the pandemic. It was wonderful to meet each other “in real life” and sit together in sacred space once again. After six months of fairly intimate sharing in talking circles and breakout rooms, we knew each other in a way that translated into a strong connection when we finally met in-person. There was no detailed agenda for our gathering. The only planning we had done was to ask everyone to bring a gift or...
