Spiritual and energetic shifts can happen instantaneously, but because of the difference in density, the changes sometimes take longer to integrate into the physical body.

After a particularly intense energy healing, for instance, we may feel the effects in our body as aches and pains. We may experience detoxification in the form of sinus or chest congestion, or stomach and intestinal upset, as the body rids itself of the last remnants of heavy energy from the healing.

During a healing, we may get to the root of an issue about an addiction and experience a profound transformation that makes it possible to break the pattern. In that moment, as we commit to giving up our habit, we have done the work and gotten clear on the energetic and spiritual levels. But on a physical level, our body has yet to integrate the work into our cells and tissues. Depending on the addiction, we may go through withdrawal or experience other physical symptoms in adjusting to the changes.

Patience and appropriate after care help our bodies catch up. Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated after a session flushes the toxins out of the system. A 20-30 minute bath in either sea salts or Epsom salts cleanses the luminous energy field. Rest and healthy nutrition also support the body in rebalancing.

On an emotional level, the more gentle and forgiving we can be with ourselves, sitting in a space without blame or judgment, the easier we (and our body) will make the adjustment. This means exercising exquisite self care, loving our bodies and feeding ourselves spiritually.

As we patiently hold space for ourselves, our bodies gradually make the shift and come into alignment with our new spiritual and energetic perspective.
